Hamacho Hotel Tokyo Nihonbashi
Nihonbashi-Hamacho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo·8.5 / 10
Hotel · Nihonbashi-Hamacho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo
Hamacho Hotel opened in 2019 as the anchor of Yasuda Real Estate's quiet revitalisation of Nihonbashi-Hamacho, a downtown Edo neighbourhood once known for kabuki teahouses and chocolate-makers. Architect Norisada Maeda wrapped the 12-storey façade in 250 species of climbing plants — a vertical garden that changes with the seasons. The 170 rooms are compact but generous in light and timber detailing. The lobby's Hamacho Hotel Tokyo restaurant serves contemporary kaiseki by chef Hiroaki Yamashita; the on-site nel cravings is Tokyo's only hotel-based artisan chocolate workshop.
