Vinha Boutique Hotel

A salmon-colored 16th-century manor house on the banks of the Douro, a couple of twists and turns up the river from central Porto, might not seem like the most obvious setting for something quite so stylish, but the Vinha Boutique Hotel is a tribute to the fashion world — so much so that its signature rooms and suites are each dedicated to, and designed in the style of, a major fashion house. Missoni, Hermès, Ralph Lauren, Christian Lacroix — the accommodations are a feast for the eyes, made even more so by their views of the river. Even the “unbranded” rooms are chic, and feature luxe touches like marble baths and Bulgari bath products. Still more luxurious is the hotel’s spa, by Sisley Paris, an elegant little oasis offering a substantial indoor pool and some locally tailored wine-based treatments. And to these attractions Vinha adds a culinary program overseen by the award-winning chef Henrique Sá Pessoa — Terroir Brasserie is casual but still elegant, as is the Reserva Bar, while the fine-dining Vinha Restaurant demonstrates the excellence for which his flagship restaurants in Lisbon and London are so highly regarded. Despite the quiet atmosphere, the city remains just a few minutes’ drive away.
